I have been looking through various copies of things that Addie wrote out and in one of them she says that David Coghlan left Rossmore for Mexico 13 April 1849 which means that he couldn't have been born in 1840.  I have felt for a while that this date is wrong.  I think more likely he was born ten years earlier - 1830 but have no direct proof of this as yet.  So I think we should put a question mark by this date.  He was in Mexico from April 1849 until 1859 I believe (but the letters for this period are missing) and then again Sept 1864 until Aug 1865.
